The main tasks of a cage are:separating the rolling elements, in
order to keep friction and a hereby generated heat at the minimum
keeping the same distance between rolling elements, in order to
ensure an even load distribution and a smooth run guiding the
rolling elements in the unloaded zone of the bearing preventing the
rolling elements from falling out (in case of dismountable
bearings).
The selection of different cage materials depends on several
aspects: chemical reactions caused by the lubricant; operating
temperature of the bearing, and loading of the cage.
This is why we offer you sheet metal cages and brass cages, the latter in different versions:metal, plastic and hard tissue. The standard deep groove ball bearings have sheet metal cages. For special applications requiring cage materials other than the standard range, please contact us.
